Ethiopian celebrates 1st anniversary as Star Alliance Member

Ethiopian DreamlinerAddis Ababa, EthiopiaEthiopian Airlines on Thursday celebrated its 1st anniversary as Star Alliance member.

Speaking on the occasion, Ethiopian Alliances and Strategic Plan Deputy President, Yeshak Zeweldi said the Airline is working hard to expand its market share since it joins the Alliance. He said joining the Alliance helps Ethiopian to expand its destination.

Currently, Ethiopian provides dependable services to 70 international destinations spanning four continents. According to him, Ethiopian is strengthening the market share with each member of the Alliance.

Star Alliance is a global airline network which was established by five airlines, Air Canada, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, THAI and United on May 14, 1997. It has grown to 27 member airlines to become the first truly global airline alliance to offer worldwide reach, recognition and seamless service to the international travelers.

Ethiopian, a multi-award winner for its commitment and contribution towards the development and growth of the African aviation industry, has recently won the 2012 “African Airlines of the Year Award” from Air Transport Quarterly Magazine.

Striving hard in the competitive industry, Ethiopian is well positioned to pursue aggressively the implementation of its 2025 strategic plan to become the leading aviation group in Africa.
