President Kagame Opens Gorillas Golf Hotel
Rwanda President Paul Kagame on Nov.16 officiated at the opening of the 88-room Gorillas Golf Hotel in the posh Nyarutarama neighborhood of Kigali city.
The hotel is the fourth for the chain which was started 10 years ago. Other hotels are in Kigali, Musanze and Rubavu.
“We are proud to see Rwandans who have confidence to invest in themselves and their country.
This investment will have benefits for our society through creation of employment and tourism. This is proof that no one will stand in the way of Rwanda achieving prosperity. We congratulate you and hope that many in the country will build upon this accomplishment,” Kagame said.
The owner of Gorillas Hotel chain, Emmanuel Rusera, thanked President Kagame for his support to private sector growth.
Rwanda has 370 registered hotels with 6,700 rooms across the country; only 31 have been graded and awarded stars. Several hotels are expected to open in the next few years including:
- Marriott hotel (5 star) with 251 rooms
- RadissonÃ‚Â Blu Hotel (5 star) which will run Kigali Convention Center as well with 292 rooms
- Vision Hotel (4 star) with 157 and
- The Sheraton Hotel that was recently given a certificate.
