Ethiopia national football side (The Black Lions) believe they have given themselves a huge boost in their quest to qualify for 2013 Orange African Cup of Nations after scoring three goals away from home in during the weekend defeat to neighbours Sudan. According to the Lions’ defensive midfielder Asrat Megersa the result from Omdurman presents them with an opportunity to qualify for the finals in South Africa  as he and his teammates can win in Addis Ababa by the margin required to qualify for the South Africa finals in 2013. Megersa was talking to Cat home next month. I strongly believe Ethiopia will make it through to the finals this time round. How did you find the today’s match ?

Asrat Megersa: It was too tactically and tough. The both side show put up good performances and produced a thrilling game. How did Ethiopia do in comparison to Sudan?

Asrat Megersa: I thought  Sudan dominated the first 45 minutes totally and scored a three deserved goals, we reacted positively and got back into the game by scoring two goals. We were  better tactically in the second half. We changed went more on the offensive and scored some goals but we faced a good Sudanese side today. What is the morale like in your team after losing this match 5-3?

Asrat Megersa: In fact it is good, not too bad a result. It has not dampened our spirits. You scored three goals in Omdurman, what do you expect in the return match in Addis Ababa?

Asrat Megersa: Sudan didn’t deserve to be awarded two penalties towards the end of the match. We played better than them in the second half and we will fancy our chances to do well by the required margin in Addis. What were the instructions  from coach Sewnet Bishaw during the break?

Asrat Megersa: He didn’t say a lot but just asked us to continue working hard and playing well , with full concentration and not to repeat the same mistakes which allowed Sudan to score the last two goals in first half. What kind of return match do you expect in Addis Ababa next month?

Asrat Megersa: We will be completely ready for this   encounter. We have given ourselves a fighting chance in the return match at home next month. I strongly believe Ethiopia will make it through to the finals this time round
