2013 Africa Cup of Nations: Ethiopia takes on Sudan

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Ethiopian national soccer team “the Walias” left for Omdurman yesterday, where they will face Sudan in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final 1st leg qualifier tomorrow.

The return leg match will be played in Addis Ababa on October 14, 2012. The winner will qualify for the final tournament, which will be held in South Africa.

Ethiopia eliminated Benin in the first round on away goal rule after both leg matches ended in draws (0-0 & 1-1).

The Walias, who have been in training camps in Bahir Dar and Adama for the past 46 days, will participate in the continental competition for the first time in 30 years, should they succeed against Sudan.

Ethiopia’s last participation in the Africa Cup of Nations was in Libya in 1982.
