Women’s 5,000m Results: Dibaba, Defar & Burka advance to final

London, UK – Tirunesh Dibaba, Meseret Defar finished 1-2 in Heat 1, while fellow compatriot Gelete Burka won Heat 2 to advance to the final of the women’s 5,000m final on Friday.

Dibaba, who is chasing a second gold medal, edged out fellow compatriot and 2004 Athens gold medalist Meseret Defar to finish first.

Ethiopian-born Tejitu Daba and Shitaye Eshete, who are representing Bahrain, also qualified for the final.
