Swimming: Olympic debutant Yanet Seyoum Gebremedhin finished last in Heat 3
London, UK â€“ First-time Olympian Yanet Seyoum Gebremedhin of Ethiopia failed to qualify for the semi-final of the 2012 London Olympics Swimming competition after she finished last (8th) in Heat 3.
Yanetâ€™s finishing time of 32:41 was 2:40 slower than the heat winner Karin Clashing Oâ€™Reilly of Antigua and Barbuda.
There were 10 Heat competitions. The best finishing time was set by Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands, who won Heat 10 in 24:51, while the worst was recorded by Nafissatou Adamou Moussa of the Niger in Heat 1.
The 18-year-old Yanet, who was born in Kombolcha, Wollo, is an engineering student at Addis Abeba Science and Technology University in the nationâ€™s capital. She is 5â€™5 tall and weighs 123 pounds.
