Club Africain eliminates St. George from Orange CAF Confederation Cup

Tunis, Tunisia – Club Africain of Tunisia eliminated St.  George FC of Ethiopia from the 2012 Orange CAF Confederation Cup after beating them 2-0 in the return leg match played here today.

Club Africain has thus advanced to the next round on a 3-1 aggregate score. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in Addis Ababa two weeks ago.

The Tunisians opened the score just 3 minutes into the game from a free kick by Skander Cheikh and added a second goal twenty seven minutes later from a penalty kick, which Amir Haj Messaoud converted.

Addis Ababa-based reported that St. George had a good performance, and further noted that Club Africain’s second goal  was the result of a controversial penalty kick.
