Ravens wide receiver joins ABC2 News LIVE from Ethiopia

MEKELLE, Ethiopia – Baltimore Ravens wide receiver, Anquan Boldin, joined ABC2 News’ Good Morning Maryland live from Ethiopia to talk about a four day humanitarian trip that he and a former teammate are on.

Boldin spoke Thursday morning live on the phone from Mekelle, Ethiopia in the northern part of the country.

Boldin and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver, Larry Fitzgerald, are on the second day of a four day mission to bring awareness to famine and severe drought conditions not only in Ethiopia, but across other East African nations.

Both Boldin and Fitzgerald have been meeting with villagers impacted by the crisis and will also be learning about an irrigation project that brings water into impoverished areas.

Organizers of the event have spread the word on YouTube through a Public Service Announcement.

International relief organization, Oxfam International, helped organize the trip. They say you can help donating by texting Oxfam to 25383.

The United Nations estimates that over 13 million people in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia are living in famine.
