Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Senior executives of the European consortium, Airbus, will visit Addis Ababa next week.

The Airbus marketing team, led by François Cognard, Vice President for Sales, Middle East and North Africa, will arrive here on Monday and will hold a press briefing on Tuesday at the Sheraton Addis.

According to Mr. Linden Birns, spokesperson of Airbus in sub-Saharan Africa, at the media briefing executives of Airbus will present the company’s latest Global Market Outlook for the airline industry in Eastern Africa and an update on all of its aircraft programmes, including the A350XWB, which has been ordered by Ethiopian Airlines. Ethiopian Airlines has placed orders for 12 Airbus A350XWB aircraft.

Airbus is pushing Ethiopian Airlines to place orders for its long-range aircraft A330. Executives of Airbus have recently proposed to the management of Ethiopian that the Airbus A330 widebody jetliner was an ideal option as the airline is on a speedy growth. The Airbus marketing team led by Mr. Francois Cognard have been repeatedly visiting Addis Ababa and trying hard to convince the management of Ethiopian to buy the A330 aircraft. The Airbus team has presented attractive offers to the management of Ethiopian.

The airbus marketing team is expected to meet executives of Ethiopian early next week. The marketing team would brief the management of Ethiopian on the development of the A350XWB aircraft, Airbus’ new jetliner which will soon start rolling out of Airbus finally assembly line in Toulouse, France. Executives of Airbus would also make a presentation on the A330 Aircraft.
