Ethiopia generates $137 million from manufacturing exports

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia  –The Ministry of Industry said that over $137 million was obtained from the export of manufactured goods alone in the first half of the budget year.

Communication Corporate Director with the Ministry, Melaku Taye, told WIC the stated sum was earned from the export of textile and garment, leather and leather products, agro processing, chemical and pharmaceutical products.

The Ministry achieved 68% of its projected revenue target of $202.3 million US dollars in the reported period, Meleku said.

However, the income has shown 70% increase compared to the same period the previous year, he said.

Ethiopia envisaged earning $471 million  from manufacturing this budget year, Melaku indicated.
