Ethiopian Athletes Dominate Luanda International Athletics Meeting

Luanda, Angola – Ethiopian athletes dominated the International Athletics Meeting of Luanda, also dubbed Demóstenes de Almeida, which took place at the Coqueiros Stadium here on Monday.

The competition was organized by the Angolan Athletics Federation.

Ethiopian athletes won both the men and women’s 1,500m and 3,000m races.

1,500m

Tesfaye Dulecha finished first in the men’s category in 3:48.33, followed by Kidrono Menjo of Angola (3:48.65) and Micton Rotich of Kenya (3:48.93).

In the women’s category, it was all Ethiopia as Belaynesh (4:33.4″), Rehima (4:33.15) and Emebet (4:25.63) took the top 3 spots.

3,000m

Tigabu Gebremariam of Ethiopia was victorious in 8:22.61, followed by the Rogata Stephen of Tanzania (08:23.58) and Isaiah Ondieici from Kenya (8:24.10).

In the female category, Hiwot Afalew of Ethiopia ended up in first place (9:29.79), followed by her compatriot Tigist Kiros (9:32.73) and Alice Mudjeri of Kenya (9:40.39).
