Great Ethiopian Run Contributes to Country’s Image, Promotes Sports Tourism
Addis Ababa – Culture and Tourism State Minister Tadelech Dalecho said Great Ethiopian Run contributes share in the efforts to build images of the country during the last ten years.
The 11th edition of Great Ethiopian Run will take place here on 26-27 Nov., 2011.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the Organizing Committee of the Great Ethiopian Run here on Friday, Tadelech said the Great Ethiopian Run has served as a tourist attraction to the country.
She said it has significantly contributed toward tourism development in the country.
The organizing committee on its part said the Great Ethiopian Run is the first in Africa.
Some 36,000 people will take part in the race including athletes from Kenya and other countries, the committee said.
More than 4000 children are expected to compete in the race.
The race’s fundraising campaign known as “Running for a Child” has set a new record this year by raising more than one million Birr so far.
