Ethiopia Super Cup 1st Leg: Ethiopian Coffee defeats St. George 2-1

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Premier League champions Ethiopian Coffee has defeated arch rival and Cup winner St. George 2-1 here today in the first leg match of the 2010/11 Ethiopia Super Cup competition, according to a report posted on EthioFootball.com.

The two teams will play the return leg match on Tuesday, November 22.

Ethiopian Coffee’s goals came in the first-half thanks to Tafesse Tesfaye (15’) and Samuel Taye (17’). The Saints’ lone goal was scored by Suleiman Mohammed in injury time (95′).

The two sides have met three times in the Ethiopia Super Cup final since 2000 with Ethiopian Coffee winning twice (2000 & 2008) and the Saints once (2003).

The second half was riddled with foul plays and the referee issued eight yellow cards, five for Ethiopian Coffee and three for St. George.
