CECAFA Kagame Cup: St. George defeat Vital’o 2-0 to advance to semi-final

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – St. George FC of Ethiopia has defeated Vital’o of Burundi to reach the semi-final of the CECAFA Kagame Clubs Cup here today, according to a report posted on SuperSport.com

St. George’s opponent in the semi-final will be Young Africans “Yanga”  of Tanzania, who struggled to beat Red Sea of Eritrea 6-5 on penalty kicks, after the two teams finished scoreless during regulation time.

The other semi-final match will feature Simba of Tanzania and El Mereikh of Sudan.

Simba defeated Bunamwaya of Uganda 2-1 while El Mereikh squeezed by Ulinzi of Kenya 9-8 on penalty kicks after the two sides finished their match 1-1 in regulation time.

Salhadin Said

It was Ghanaian striker Prince Godwin who opened the score for the Saints on 42nd minute, and that’s how the two teams went into the dressing room.

Salhadin Said, who provided the pass to Prince put his name on the goal scorer’s sheet 5 minutes into the second half by scoring his team’s second goal. This brings his goal tally to 6 goals for this year’s tournament.

It is possible that Salhadin could tie or surpass his feat of last year where he finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 7 goals.
