If Degu plays in attacking midfielder position, the way he used to with Arbaminch textile, he will do wonders. Degu is an example where picking the right talent is an important job in foot ball, not just all who can kick around the ball. I never forget the times i have passed playing with Degu and other textile players in arba minch sikela stadium in the past. I remember a year or two before degu became a star, we used to fire him off the arba minch field during the three times a week informal games held at sikela stadium. i remember saying myself “degu we are full today you can not play”. I was training with the textile young boys every three days a week where i used to bring balls and we were playing 20 minutes knock out games in the most competitive atmosphere. The defeated team stays out and another team gets in. 99% of the future textile players were in these games. Degu was thin (so the name mititi)but smart player and well behaved. Soon he started showing the unexpected talent and no one could match him after that, a class of his own. When degu was out arbaminch textile plays to avoid defeat and in many cases textile looses. Textile almost breaths with degu’s lung. That was an aspect i did not like very much. When arba minch was best in 1995 E.C. i used to give them class room session on tactics of defending and attacking and I remember the dedication and huge interest the players showed for my class. After that i have never seen players in arba minch really liking a class room session. The difference in talent as i see it was the difference.
Here we go!!!!! the chaps……
