Ethiopian Athletes dominate Beirut Marathon

Beirut, Lebanon – Ethiopian athletes dominated the BLOM Beirut Marathon here today, with Mohammed Temam and Etaferaw Tarekegn winning the men and women categories respectively.

In the men’s race, Mohamed Temam (2:16.43) edged fellow Ethiopian Abere Chane (2:17.40) to win, with James Macharia of Kenya in third place (2:18:20).

Five of the top six finishers were Ethiopians.

Women’s race

Race favorite Etaferaw Tarekegn did not disappoint as she won in dominating fashion in 2:41.15, almost three minutes clear of second placed Mihiret Anamo, also of Ethiopia.
