Makda Harun Haji of Ethiopia wins Venice Marathon

Venice, Italy – Makda Harun Haji of Ethiopia won the women’s category of the Venice Marathon here today in a personal best time of 2:28.08. Makda finished fourth at last year’s race in 2:29.56. 

Elizabeth Chemweno of Kenya(2:29:21) and Elena Ruhliada of Russia (2:30.41) finished second and third respectively. 

In the men’s category, Simon Mukun Kamana of Kenya  came in first in 2:09.35 with Sahle Betona Warga of Ethiopia finishing twelve seconds behind. Despite the loss, Sahle improved his personal best time from 2:12.13, which he sets in Paris last April, to 2:09.47. Meanwhile, Haile Diriba Demissie of Ethiopia, placed fourth in 2:12.21.
