Aberu Kebede wins Berlin Women’s Marathon

Berlin, Germany – Aberu Kebede of Ethiopia won the Berlin Marathon in a personal best time of 2:23.58, with fellow compatriot Bezunesh Bekele finishing second in 2:24.58. 

In the men’s race, Bazu Worku and Yemane Tsegaye finished third and fourth respectively. Patrick Makau of Kenya won the race in 2:05.08. 

Aberu is becoming a much improved athlete having won a bronze medal at last year’s World Half-Marathon Championships and this year, she was the runner-up in Dubai in 2:24:26 and won the Rotterdam Marathon.
