Hawassa, Ethiopia –World marathon record holder and Ethiopia’s greatest athlete of all time, Haile Gebrselassie will officially open his 200-million Birr ($14 million) Haile’s Resort here tomorrow, in the presence of government officials and invited guests, according to the weekly the Ethiopian Reporter.
The 112-rooms resort, which seats on 7.5 acres of tropical beauty, is just a walk away from the beautiful Lake Awassa, and construction cost was financed by loans from Hibret Bank and Zemen Bank in Addis Ababa.
The resort comes with several amenities including a soothing waterfall, seven meeting halls and banquet rooms, free wireless internet access, a mini golf course, a spacious swimming pool, two tennis courts, a mini soccer field, a fitness centre, horse-back riding, and much more.
Haile told the newspaper that plans are underway to build eight private villas on the resort, and when the renovation of the nearby Awassa Airport is completed next year, his resort will be able to offer flight service to and from Addis Ababa.
For me and also for many of us Haile Gebrselassie is the greatest of all time… this project will have more profit for the region,the people and our country.. than for Haile.Great Investement..i am living in Germany, i heard many complain about the accommodation specially in the very north and South Ethiopia..
Here I have to share you my Experience,2003 i went to slovakia to a very small city, many of the people were asking me where i came from,i tald them from Ethiopia and i was ready to answer for the commen question which we are used to be asked.(do you still have starvation..war or..) instead they were saying Gebrselassie….
