St. George extends lead with 2-1 away win in Adama

Adama - Defending champion St. George extended their lead of the Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) to 8 clear points with a 2-1 victory over Adama City (aka Adama Kenema) here on Sunday. Meanwhile, newly promoted and surprising team Dedebit FC, which led the EPL for most of the season, was held to a 1-1 draw by Trans Ethiopia in Mekelle.

In other matches played over the weekend, EEPCO scored a rare away victory when they beat Southern Police 1-0: Muger Cement was held scoreless at home by Dire Dawa City; Meta Abo Brewery defeated Awassa City 1-0 and Banks SC squeezed past Metehara Sugar 3-2.

The league continued today with Sebeta City defeating Sidama Coffee 1-0 and Ethiopian Coffee failed to move up to third place as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Insurance.

The Saints, who have a match in hand, seat clear at the top with 56 points from 24 matches

I am highly disappointed by all this twist and turn in the league.I basically wanted Ethiopian Coffee, which the team I support,to be champion but that wouldn’t happen this year, unless something miracle occur. On the other hand, though, to my frustration, Bira is in a pole position to snatch away the trophy once more this year. Though ethiopian coffee won lately a lot of games and managed to be fourth– only seven points away from the second position–and this is a good sign for the next year.I hope the coach would feel comfortable and adapt the team and the environment–and work hard to make us champion next season. Go ethiopia coffee, never ever give up!!!

Yo MIki, or whoever you are, I aint talk too much, neither the team. What I was saying is the team would probably land the trophy next season, since the manager would be comfortable after staying there for one full season– that comes along with time–and he could manage the team to have them the championship. Thats what I said, no exaggeration or boosting. One thing let me tell you, you better shut your motor-mouth. We know, you and I, what was the reasons not to be champions for Ethiopian Coffee besides the results in the pitch. And you wouldn’t argue with about how we, the supporters, love our team–ethiopian bunna-to death, and we are entitled, at all times, to hope what we hoped, to talk what we want. The reason that kept going to AA stadium is the love of the team even without any significant result, but if the case was to your team, we wouldn’t see any Bira fan in the venue to watch their team…We’ll talk about later men, when the time comes but for now just remember what you said, you dopey!!!
